Pink chair, magenta flowers, red ink
As you may or may not know, depending on how obsessed you are with me (and if you aren't, why not?), in real life, I am a proofreader. I am currently freelancing, because small towns in the South don't have a great need for proofreaders, it turns out.
I do most of my work in this chair. Marvin Gardensalad bought it for me
in the year 2000, at this vintage/junk store in Los Feliz, which for those of you unfamiliar with Los Angeles, is a cool part of town where they can charge you 47 times the price of something because you are buying it in Los Feliz.
They told us this chair used to belong to Loni Anderson, and perhaps she'll Google herself, see the chair, and write in and tell us if that is true or untrue. They also claim it was built to fit her body perfectly, which cracks me up because it fits MY body perfectly, and there is no way Loni Anderson and I have the same measurements.
I was a full-time freelancer for four years, so I spent 40+ hours a week in this chair from 2002 until 2006. It is now stained with red ink, and decidedly a less perky shade of pink than it was in 2000, even though I had professional cleaners come and steam it. Sometimes I think about having it recovered, but that costs like 10 million dollars.
Our house in LA was up on a hill overlooking Griffith Park Boulevard, which for those of you not from LA, is a really cool part of town where they can charge you 47 times the rent you'd normally pay because you are on Griffith Park Boulevard. This chair sat in a huge bay window in our dining room.
From my perch, I saw all the Griffith Park action. I called 911 about 60 times from this chair. I was totally Gladys Kravitz. Do you think Gladys and Lenny Kravitz are related?
I did not even mean to ramble on so about this chair. I meant to show you my view from this chair, which is this:
Isn't it PRETTY? Look at those beautiful camellias. At least I think those are camellias. It's so serene and lovely out there. Not a single carjacking to be seen.
Last night I went crazy and had FOUR rice cakes, which tipped me over the edge of my Weight Watchers' points. I did take a long walk with Marvin Gardensalad, though, so maybe I broke even. We saw a dead snake and it looked like it had a rattle. I was willyin'.
I guess that's all the news that's fit to publish today. What're y'all doing this weekend?

We are thinking about you and Marvin this weekend and your pretty view. Out our window is about 6 inches of snow. Tommorow the wind chill factor (whaterever that is) is suppossed to be about 10 below zero.I am in the middle of making a large split pea soup with lima beans and barley. We are taking it to our friends house tonight. Also I did an hour of spinning an hour of boxing and 20 minutes on a treadmill this a.m. so why arent I thin?

Y'all sounding like a true southern woman these days June. Well bless your heart.
So you lived over near Griffith Park .. wow .. I didnt realise you were living in such a ritzy area. I'm impressed! Lucky you wren't there when the fires went through .. or were you?
Oh I must say .. I thought it was rather brave of your Winston to come out and give the pup the evil eye .. quite brave indeed.
Have a lovely weekend. :o)

That chair looks so comfy! I might have to find a non-Loni-Anderson variety.
Hubby just took me horseback riding for our anniversary, which is Monday. We live in RI and it was sunny and gorgeous when we left, got a little greyer during the ride, and started to snow IMMEDIATELY after I got off my horse - who was persnickity and stubborn, but not prone to running, thank goodness. Perfect day!

I love your chair! I have spent the weekend so far getting ticked off at Ikea, eating way too much chocolate and being a good responsible person at the Chinese New Year party last night! Tomorrow, I will continue catching up on laundry and maybe, just maybe wash some dishes! I hope you have a beautiful Sunday!

Love the chair and your view from that window! How did the trip to deliver Meadow go?

Looks nice & sunny down there! We are going to have a high of 8 degrees tomorrow, so I'm hibernatin'! Cleaning house, literally. The painter guy has left me a nice house coated with plaster dust. So I'm washing the walls and every possible surface of everything in my house. Except the floors, cuz when he comes back on Monday, he'll mess those up again so I may as well just wait. Sounds fun, huh? ;) Send some sunshine to Michigan, puh-leeeease!

Love your chaise! I am a huge fan of chaises. Love your view. Hate your snake story. I hate anything to do with snakes, be they stories, pictures, rubber imitations, live, whatever.
As for me, I'm studying and buttin' heads with my 10 year old. Not so fun a weekend.

I love those camellia's! I have two huge Camellia bushes in our yard in NC. I was just telling The Mister last night that I bet our camellia's are beautiful right now!
I think your view is awesome.
Also, i am not sure that these are WW friendly, but I LOVE the mini rice cakes that are cheese covered. They are very, very good.

Tee hee hee! My first visit to this blog. Found it by way of By By Buy, buy way of Sid Leavitt at readersandwritersblog, by way of the invention of the Internet. You are a funny writer, funny lady.

I love camellias. Aw, hell, I love any flowers. I just don't get to enjoy them much in February. In Michigan.

I spent what seemed like all day shoveling snow from our magically never-ending sidewalks. Or rather, as I kept saying to my son, who was pretending to help me: "chop chop, shovel shovel": because the snow was so dense and solid that one couldn't simply shovel it, one (and by "one" I mean "me") had to break it up first and then lift it in odd-shaped chop-blocks to the side.
I did this out of a sense of civic duty, but not many of our neighbors felt likewise, or were perhaps smart enough to be overwhelmed by the task before they started. I am now dog-tired, have an odd blister midway up my left thumb, and will be quite crabby the rest of the day. But today was the day for it: tomorrow will be a high of 7, with strong wind advisories (gusts up to 45 mph). [sigh]

I'm not sure of which I am most envious: the pink chaise, or the view of blooming and growing things. Here in the land of winter it will be at least two months before things start to hint at green, and it will be Memorial Day before the trees are fully leafed out.
How the heck did I end up living in the Land of Winter??
SO funny, I call myself Gladys Kravitz too. The one spot you have to stand in my kitchen to unload the dishwasher gives a full view of two neighbors comings and goings. I don't mean to spy but that is ALL my view is. My neighbor is so young she had never even heard of Gladys Kravitz.
I am on day 5 of either the flu or a really nasty bug. Even though all it is doing is snowing outside I am still ready to feel well enough to hit Target or something! (Yes, I'd like some cheese with my whine...)

I was just waiting -- waiting, I tell you -- for some wise guy to say "I'm Loni Anderson."
