So, we'd kind of given up on finding a place to rent, and this morning I idly looked at Trulia (a rental website) and found something pretty cute. It's in a great neighborhood full of historic homes and I know people who live in that area and it's supposed to be wonderful.
The house was built in 1920, has a wonderful front porch and a breakfast nook, but here are the drawbacks. Two fairly depressing, old bathrooms and carpet, blech, in the bedrooms. They said we could rip up the carpet, which would be work but then it'd be more palatable in there.
The other thing is, it's super cheap. Probably because it's two houses from a busy road (am currently one house from a busy road. Please see above references to all my pets being plowed over by cars) and because of the depressing bathrooms.
So, do we move in and rip up carpet and deal with the bathrooms because we'll be saving a bundle (between us, we'll save $650 a month in rent/mortgage alone), or do we keep looking for the perfect sitch?
